The Shagun Tracker
Built for Indian Families

Record every gift in seconds. See full reciprocity history. Export a complete report after the event. Free on Android and iOS.

What It Does

Your family's Shagun records — searchable, safe, and always available

Every Indian family has a Shagun book — a diary where the Munshi records who came to the wedding, what they gave, and their relationship to the family. That book holds decades of family memory.

The problem is paper. Handwriting fades. Books get lost. There is no way to search, no automatic totals, and no way to share with family members in other cities.

Nyota's Shagun tracker replaces the paper diary with a fast, private, digital record — without changing the tradition itself.

How the Shagun Tracker works

From the moment the first guest arrives to the final PDF you share with the family — here is the complete flow.

1

Create the event before the wedding

Set up your wedding or ceremony in Nyota — add the event name, date, and type. Invite family members who will help manage it. The Shagun tracker is ready before the first guest arrives.

2

Open Desk Mode at the venue

The Munshi opens Nyota on any Android or iOS phone and switches to Desk Mode — a large numeric keypad designed for fast reception desk entry. No training needed, no passwords to remember mid-ceremony.

3

Enter guest name + Shagun in 3 seconds

The Munshi types the guest's name — Nyota auto-suggests from the guest list — then enters the Shagun amount. One tap to save. The entry is recorded with timestamp, and the running total updates instantly.

4

Reciprocity history appears automatically

If the guest has attended a previous family event recorded in Nyota, their gift history appears alongside the new entry. "Gave ₹1,100 at your son's birthday — 2023." The family elder no longer needs to remember everything.

5

Export the full report after the event

Once the ceremony is complete, generate a PDF or Excel report of all Shagun received — every entry, every guest, total collected, broken down by relationship group. Ready to share, print, or archive.

6

Records are preserved for future events

Every entry becomes part of your family's permanent relationship history. The next time any of these guests host an event — wedding, namkaran, griha pravesh — you consult Nyota to know exactly what to give.

Features

Everything built into the Shagun tracker

⌨️

A large numeric keypad optimised for the busy reception desk. Auto-suggests names from your guest list. The fastest way to record Shagun without slowing the line of waiting guests.

🔁

Full Reciprocity History

Every guest's past gift history appears instantly when their name is entered. See every Shagun they gave across all your family events — dates, amounts, occasions.

📊

Live Running Totals

The event total updates with every entry. Know exactly how much Shagun has been collected at any point during the wedding — no manual addition, no waiting until the end.

🔍

Search Across All Events

Find any guest's complete gift history across all events instantly. Search by name, city, or relationship. Works across years of family events stored in Nyota.

📄

PDF & Excel Export

One-tap export of the complete Shagun report after the event. Share via WhatsApp, email, or print. Formatted clearly for family review and account settlement.

👨‍👩‍👧

Multi-Person Recording

Large weddings need multiple Munshis. Assign roles to family helpers — each records on their own phone. All entries sync to the same event in real time, no duplicates.

📴

Works Offline

Wedding venues often have poor network coverage. Nyota's Shagun tracker works offline and syncs when connectivity is restored. No entry is ever lost due to signal issues.

🔒

Completely Private

Your family's financial records are not shared, not sold, not analysed. Login with phone number only. Delete your account and all data permanently at any time.

FAQ

Questions about the Shagun tracker

A Shagun tracker app is a mobile application that records who gave Shagun (gifts) at Indian weddings and family events, how much they gave, and their relationship to the family. It replaces the traditional handwritten Vyavahar Book — which many families call the Red Notebook — with a secure, searchable digital record that never fades or gets lost.
Yes. Nyota is free for personal use with no hidden charges, no premium paywall for core features, and no time limits. You can record unlimited Shagun entries, manage unlimited guest lists, and export PDF reports at zero cost.
Yes — this is one of Nyota's most important features. Every Shagun entry is stored against the guest contact permanently. When that guest attends a new event next year or five years later, their full gift history appears automatically. The family never has to remember or cross-reference old paper records.
Yes. Nyota supports team roles — assign Co-Owner, Munshi, and Family roles to different people. Multiple Munshis can record simultaneously from their own phones at a large wedding with thousands of guests. All entries sync to the same event in real time.
Yes. Nyota's Shagun tracker is designed to work offline. Entries are saved locally and sync when connectivity is restored. Wedding venues — especially banquet halls and farmhouses — often have unreliable networks, so offline capability is a core requirement, not an afterthought.
No. Nyota is a record-keeping app only. It tracks and stores Shagun information — it does not process, transfer, or move money. Guests continue giving Shagun in whatever form they choose (cash, UPI, envelope). Nyota is the Munshi's digital notebook, not a payment gateway.
