Cookie Policy
The Nyota mobile app does not use cookies. The Nyota website (thenyota.app) uses a small number of cookies — one for essential site function and one for anonymised analytics via Google Analytics. We do not use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking. EU and UK users can manage their cookie choices at any time.
What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work efficiently and to provide information to website owners.
Similar technologies include web beacons, pixels, and local storage — these work in similar ways to cookies and are also covered by this Policy.
This Policy only applies to the Nyota website at thenyota.app. The Nyota mobile app does not use cookies.
Cookies We Use
The Nyota website uses a minimal set of cookies. We do not use advertising cookies, retargeting cookies, or any cookies that track you across other websites.
| Cookie | Provider | Purpose | Type | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| _ga, _ga_* | Google Analytics (GA4) | Distinguishes users for anonymised website analytics. IP anonymisation is enabled. No personally identifiable information is stored. | Analytics | 2 years |
| nyota_consent | Nyota | Remembers your cookie consent preference so we don't ask you again on every visit. | Essential | 12 months |
We do not use:
- Advertising or targeting cookies
- Social media tracking pixels (Facebook, Twitter, etc.)
- Cross-site tracking technologies
- Fingerprinting or device identification technologies
- Any cookies that profile users for commercial purposes
Google Analytics (GA4)
We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand how visitors interact with our website — for example, which pages are most visited, how long users stay, and which features generate interest. This helps us improve the website.
How we've configured GA4 for privacy:
- ✓ IP anonymisation is enabled — your IP address is truncated before storage.
- ✓ We do not share GA4 data with Google for advertising purposes.
- ✓ We do not enable Google Signals or cross-device tracking.
- ✓ Data collected is aggregated and does not identify individual users.
- ✓ GA4 data is retained for 14 months in Google's systems.
Google Analytics data is processed by Google LLC (USA). For EU/UK users, this constitutes a transfer of data outside the EEA/UK. Google participates in the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, providing an adequate level of data protection. For more information, see Google's Privacy Policy.
Your Cookie Choices
You have several options for managing cookies:
Under GDPR and UK GDPR, we require your consent before placing non-essential cookies (such as Google Analytics) on your device. When you first visit thenyota.app, you will see a cookie consent banner where you can accept or decline analytics cookies. Essential cookies (the consent preference cookie) are placed regardless of your choice, as they are strictly necessary for the consent mechanism itself to function.
Managing cookies through your browser
You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings. The following links explain how to do this in the most common browsers:
Please note that disabling cookies may affect some functionality of the website.
Opting out of Google Analytics
You can prevent Google Analytics from collecting your data by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. If we add new cookie categories or materially change how we use cookies, we will notify EU/UK users and request fresh consent where required by law.
