# Nyota

> Nyota (न्योता) is the Digital Red Notebook — a free mobile app for South Asian families and diaspora communities worldwide to organize events, manage guest lists, record Shagun (gifts), and preserve relationship memories. Available on iOS and Android. Headquartered in Bangalore, India.

Nyota replaces the traditional handwritten Vyavahar Book used in Indian weddings and family gatherings to track who attended, what gift they gave, and what should be reciprocated at future events. The app digitizes this cultural system into a private, secure platform. Nyota is not a payment processor or social network — it is personal family record-keeping infrastructure.

- Nyota does NOT upload or scan users' full contact list. Only individually user-selected contacts are imported via the native iOS/Android system picker.
